CVS Scenario for 4/20

by Christie- on April 19, 2014

lightbulbHere is my CVS Shopping Scenario for 4/20. In this scenario you’ll get $26.46 in merchandise and spend $2.03 total out of pocket. You’ll end up in with $3 ECBs so you are making 97¢ for buying these items.

If you don’t have enough Almay coupons, you can do Alternate Transaction #1 at the bottom. If you start with this one, you’ll end up paying 4¢ for everything, so it’s still a great deal!

Transaction #1
Buy (1) Almay Lip Balms, $5.99 Reg. Price
Buy (2) Almay Eye Shadow Softies, $4.99 Reg. Price
Total = $15.97
$3/$15 Cosmetics CRT Printing for everyone
(3) $4/1 Almay Cosmetic Product, exp. 4/27/14 (SS 04/13/14)
Total = 97¢, Get Back $3 ECB

Transaction #2
Buy (2) Speed Stick Gear Antiperspirant Deodorant, 2.7 – 4 oz, 2/$8 Sale Price
(2) $2.00 On any Speed Stick GEAR Deodorant, Antiperspirant or Body Spray (68130)
$3 ECB from Transaction #1
Total = $1, Get Back $3 ECB

Transaction #3
Buy (1) Scope to Go, $2.49 Reg. Price
Buy (1) Powerade, $1.57 Sale Price
(1) $1 off Powerade CRT – Printing from the Coupon Center Kiosk for everyone
$3 ECB from Transaction #2
Total = 6¢, Get Back $3 ECB

ALTERNATE Transaction #1 (if you don’t have enough Almay coupons):
Buy (2) Almay Eye Shadow Softies, $4.99
(2) $4/1 Almay Cosmetic Product, exp. 4/27/14 (SS 04/13/14)
Total = $1.98, Get Back $3 ECB

YOU’LL END UP WITH $3 ECB FOR NEXT WEEK!

Thanks for the breakdown, I can’t wait to shop tomorrow! Question though – I’d like more of the deodorant and have 6 coupons total. Would I just do two more of the Speed Stick transactions to use them up and still be getting them for $.50/each? Or can I do them all in one transaction, buy 6 and get $9 in ECBs? This is my first time couponing at CVS so I’m not sure if I can buy that many and keep getting the ECBs or if that’s a limited deal. Thanks for the help!

I attempted transaction #1, and was told that the “system” would not accept the $3 off $15 CRT because the three $4 MC dropped the transaction total below $15. I have never had this issue at CVS before. Two different checkers re-rang my transaction (CRT first followed by MC) and in looking at the register screen it does show that the $3 of $15 does not apply because of the transaction total. Also, the screen shows that the checker would have to override the system to force the coupon through which clearly they are not willing to do. Has something changed in the CVS system? I can’t find anything in the coupon policy that refers to CRT restrictions.

That’s new indeed. Hoping it was a fluke!

It happened to me as well! My cashier had to do it manually some how but said it would only let her put it in as $2.50 off instead of $3! I do NOT like the new cvs system at all 🙁 still got a great deal though ! 2 packs of huggies, 1 pack of wipes, gallon of milk, almay mascara, almay make up remover, 4 deo’s all for $5.14 out of pocket with $3 ecb’s back

Same thing also happened to me but my cashier clicked one button and the discount went right back on – only after I called it out. Happened on both the Speed Stick and Almay transactions.
