Here are some tips for ordering online and earning Extra Bucks.
1. First of all, you CAN use Send2Card Manufacturer’s coupons and Send2Card CVS Coupons (the ones that print for you at the Coupon Center Kiosk). Only certain CVS Coupons will be redeemable online, but you’ll be able to tell by looking at the line immediately below show details. Redeem instore or online is what you want to see.You must send them to your card before they print in-store in order to use them online. Secondly, both of these will deduct from the threshold. For example, if the deal is to earn $5 ECB for spending $20 on Herbal Essences, Pantene and Head & Shoulders, but if you use the $5/2 MQs on your app, the threshold will dip below the $20, and you’ll have to buy more in order to reach it.
2. Items on sale at the store and a part of the ECB will not always be on sale online, but may be a part of the ECB. It’s really wonderful that you’ll be able to tell, right away that this item is a part of the ECB in a statement right below the price in red. Below that, you’ll see if you have any coupons clipped to your card that will work on this. In this instance above the H&S is 2/$12 and a part of the ECB in store, but online it’s not on sale, just $6.99, but it is a part of the ECB.
3. IF there is a 25% off Regular prices online only OFFER, and because the H&S is regular price online, the % off would work; however, this again means that the price after this discount is what will count towards the threshold.
4. You’ll be able to tell the progress of the items counting to the ECB deal you are trying to earn. Here’s the breakdown for the first item, before everything is added. In each item there are two messages with a circled ¡ . The one in red notes the savings applied to this item. The other will note the amount counting towards the ECBs. To the right is the ECB breakdown when I first added the Herbal Essences to this order. You can see you need $13.27 more to reach the $20 threshold at this point since I’ve only added two Herbal Essences to the order.
4. You CAN apply your ECBs to pay for your order, and these will not deduct from the threshold needed to earn the ECBs. Also, it doesn’t matter if your ECBs printed for you or if they are Beauty Bucks for instance that have not printed, you can still apply them to the order. If you’re ECBs go over the total for the order, it the order cannot be finalized.
5. For instance in this order below there was a 25% online offer for regular prices, there were MQs and CVS coupons on hair care, here’s an example of how much this person needs to buy in order to reach the $20 on hair care to earn the $5 ECBs. Here’s the breakdown for the Pantene for both the Savings Applied and the ECBs progress. The $4/$14 Pantene clipped to the card came off only after adding four items to the transaction. Each one is $4.99 regularly, but since the 25% was applied it only worked when four were added. The $2/$5 Head & Shoulders also came off.
6. ExtraBucks Rewards earned on online orders become available to print or send to your ExtraCare card for use on a subsequent transaction up to 2 days after your qualifying purchase ships. HOWEVER, it usually happens as soon as the order ships, which can vary. Also note these ECB’s for some reason have a shorter expiration date than if they had printed in-store. However, once you print them in store, they do have a regular time span for expiration.
7. On your shopping basket you’ll be able to see the Savings Redeemed, on the right hand side after the list of ECBs you can use. Here’s that information from the order pictured above between 4 and 5. In here it includes any coupons used, and if you apply ECB’s they will be listed here too, so you can see what’s going on.
7. ECBs that require no threshold are best to grab online! For instance if there is an offer to earn $5 ECB for buying two Maybelline or Sally Hansen Cosmetics. If you lose your ECB’s, it’s a great deal to use them onlne.
8. Check you thresholds carefully. YOU MUST reach the threshold to the penny in order to earn the ECBs online, unlike in the stores where you can be a few pennies shy. So if the deal is to earn $7 ECB for spending $10 on Wet ‘n Wild for example, the $9.99 item will NOT Prompt the rewards online, even though they would prompt the reward in-store.
9. If there is a deal with a limit of more than one, YOU can only earn the ECB’s once per order. So for the Wet ‘n Wild, it’s usually limit 3 to spend $10 and get $7 ECB. So I grabbed a $2.59 item and an $8.99 item. The $7 ECB posted to my account as soon as the order shipped, then I ordered another item for $8.99, and I received the $7. Since the first order had a running tally of $11.58, the $8.99 price was enough to trigger a second $7 ECB. And since the order was shipped within a day, I was able to place a second order to take advantage of this Wet ‘n Wild ECB Deal. This also enables you to successfully roll your ECBs!
10. Once you place the order, be aware of what is shipped! I had a couple instances where the item is out of stock, so they can’t ship. A couple instances they were small items I’d used as fillers to use a high ECB coupon, but once it happened it was an item a part of the ECB deal. I’d ordered two items in order to reach a $10 ECB threshold to earn the Extra Bucks and they did not prompt it since only one item was shipped. In this instance, I called Customer Service and explained. They had to transfer me to the ECB line (as opposed to the online ordering line) and after ECB confirmed that that I had ordered the amount in order to earn the ECB they forced the ECB to be printed while I waited for the item to ship. However, this is not policy so it may vary for you depending on which customer service rep you get. Always be sure to ask for a supervisor if you are not happy. The Customer service agent may consider fixing this situation in a different way for you. I didn’t wait long enough for a refund to occur in case an item is outright cancelled as opposed to back ordered, but it could be that only the price after all coupons and ECB’s may be issued, which is sometimes 19¢ 🙁 . So just be sure to keep an eye on your orders.
11. I’ve placed maybe 10 orders since signing up for Carepass which comes with free shipping, and twice I’ve received my order with small samples of products and coupons. Surprise!

Cvs app is no longer showing the progress towards ecbs on their screen. It appears you can no longer see if you are earning or purchasing the right items to earn the ecbs until after you make the purchase.
This is SO frustrating. I’m ExtraCare Plus but have NO ability to pay using my ECB when I try to check out online. I’ve tried using different browsers and that’s not the problem. Spent 15 mins with a “customer service agent” who transferred me after she did the repeating thing (“I understand that…”). I’m about ready to dispute my $48 annual charge with the cc company since it’s USELESS to me to put things in my cart for shipping or pickup, but not be able to use the ECB. Any clue what I’m doing wrong? I don’t get the “Apply Extra Care Deals” prompt that you’re showing. Plus it doesn’t show the ECB deals — and I think I haven’t been credited some of them.
Store employees are nice, but they can’t help.
That is so weird. I have no issues paying online with ECBs. I use Microsoft Edge, if that’s any help. I almost always use my desktop, although I may have once or twice used the APP on my phone. Are you doing this on your phone browser or the app? If you’re using your PC, do you get the same error on your app? The last order I placed online was the 4th of September without issues. When you say it doesn’t show the ECB deals, do you mean the one’s you’ve already bought, like the ECB’s you earned for them? Do you see the ECB’s that you have on your card? On the top right corner under account it shows $$$ and the amount (of ECBs) available. And on this link https://www.cvs.com/extracare/home/ , you should see the individual ECBs you have in little squares as well as any coupons. Are those showing there? Is your account linked to your ECB card? Feel free to leave another message on this post if you like. I can’t think of anything else. If I do, I’ll come back and leave you another message.
