Hi Christie,
Just wanted to say I love both of your sites and used them almost daily. Appreciate all the effort you go to for your readers. I really love the print friendly option on the wags site. Any chance it will be available on the cvs site soon?

Keep up the great job.

Hi Debbie – good suggestion! I’ll see about adding it – I’m kind of tech challenged . ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just a heads up…the Reinventing Beauty coupons for Sensodyne state “one per customer” so you can’t use multiples in the same transaction…that’s why they beep. Most of the RIB coupons state that and shouldn’t be pushed through ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m pretty sure that the register will not accept more than 1 of any of the RIB coupons. They are programed that way & the verbage on the coupon itself says “Coupon cannot be combined with any other CVS/Pharmacy coupons.” Maybe we could try to break them down into 3 seperate transactions to build up to the $30 for the cash card?

Christie February 9, 2012 at 5:48 pm

My stores will manually enter it for me, which they totally can do. But if your store absolutely won’t then break up the 2nd transaction in the “STORE TOTALLY FREAKED” scenario. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks! My store is really great, but I think they WILL freak out about this, so I’ll take your suggestion & break up the transactions (thank goodness CVS totals accumulate)! Thanks for the help!

Who is on the cover of this Reinventing Beauty issue? I went to CVS to look for the magazine and didn’t see the season listed on the cover. Thank you

Click the link in the post and it’ll show you a picture. I’m very bad with celebrity names. She’s an actress, she sings kind of too, I think she’s getting divorced? Hmm, sounds like all of Hollywood. LOL. This is what you get from someone with no cable TV. ๐Ÿ˜›

Asked a mgr what they thought about the verbage when I first saw the new policy. He informed me the plural part meant ECB because those are considered a cvs coupon also

Reply

Christie February 9, 2012 at 9:51 pm

Then why not say MQ, CVS coupon & Extra Care Bucks…? They actually just took a line out of Walgreens policy and changed it to CVS.

It’s a little like the law, if you create vague laws – there’s going to be all kinds of interpretations. Where’s the supreme court of coupons? I need to bring them the CVS coupon policy. LOL. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Reply

Jane February 10, 2012 at 11:31 am

What Kell said is true….ECB, $5.00 off $20 purchase etc. are considered cpns by CVS according to corporate. Yes they need to explain it better in their policy but I guess the statement “not to be combined with any other CVS coupon” means just that ๐Ÿ™‚

Karen, can you tell me how you plan to break up the transactions?

Reply

Karen H. February 9, 2012 at 10:17 pm

Sure, I will do 3 transactions, all the same, then add a $3 Scrubbing Bubbles toilet cleaner to get my total over $30 to get the cash card.
Transactions: Buy (2) Sensodyne toothpaste @ $5.99 BOGO 50% off =$8.98
Then I will buy a trial size of Biotine @ $1.57 to get my GSK total over $10 (but the Biotine is not part of the CVS cc deal) =$10.55 x 3 trans. =$31.65
Use the $5 off wyb $10 in GSK products RIB coupon (one in each trans.) =$5.55 x 3 trans. =$16.65 add the $3 Scrubbing Bubbles use a $1/1 printable coupon from http://www.rightathome.com =$18.65 oop
Get back $10 CVS cc -like paying $8.65 for 10 items or .87 each!
I hope that’s not too confusing!!

OMGosh -I totally forgot the MQ’s in the comment above!! Lol, I think I need to go to bed!
With the MQ’s:

trial sz. Biotine @ $1.57 =$10.55
use (1) $2.50/2 MQ + use $5 off wyb $10 in GSK products =$3.05 x 3 trans. =$9.15
Add the $3 Scrubbing Bubbles
use $1/1 printable =$11.15 oop -get back $10 CVS cc -like paying $1.15 (that’s better) for 10 items!!

HI
The cvs beauty magazine coupons you are mentioning are showing MANUFACTUERS Q,s , not a store CVS coupon. How will they let you use 2 stated MANUFActuers for the same item ? I really want to get the sensodyne but it just does not seem to work per the coupon policy.
thanks

Hi Cindy – The Sensodyne ones in the book are actually CVS coupons. They all start with a 4, you can’t use them anywhere but CVS. Even if they write “this is a manufacturer’s coupon” on it, it’s not. Kind of like I could take a box of Cheerios and write “this is a pizza” on the box. The bar code ultimately tells you what the coupon really is. I see that happen frequently and I don’t know why it does but those are CVS qs.

What a GREAT explaination! I love the pizza analogy!!

Christie the Sensodyne coupons state “One Per Customer” in the fine print that’s why they beep. You can’t use multiples of these in the same transaction ๐Ÿ™‚ Just a heads up!

Karen don’t forget to use the 2.50/2 biotine coupon from a 1/1 insert

Reply

Karen H. February 10, 2012 at 8:17 am

Thanks so much! I do have that coupon, I just didn’t have it in front of me last night so I didn’t want to mention it, just in case it excluded trial size. Now that I have had a chance to look at that coupon, it does NOT exclude trial size, so if anyone else wants to do that scenario, you can use the $2.50/2 coupon or the $1/1 any Biotene also from the same insert. Thanks again!

Hi Chistie, Love both your sites!! They are so helpful to me:) I went into CVS today and questioned about the amount of cvs qs we can use and they said 1 per item, but as many EB as we want. They said the RIB coupons were technically CVS but were mq’s. I said they are not but I guess I’ll wait and see when I do the deal what happens. I do have a CVS with an awesome group of workers who always are helpful and have no problems with coupons but I do think even they are confused about the policy. I guess they were told the plural on CVS q’s means EB’s so that is what they have to do until told otherwise. Thanks for all you do:) I wonder if Corporate would give me the time of day to discuss it.

Hi Pagee – Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think there’s this like massive confusion at most stores about what’s a manuf. coupon and what’s a store coupon. Really – all coupons come from the MQ. The stores really aren’t fronting any of this money. It’s all deals worked out with the Manufacturer, which is why I think we sometimes see “MQ” on a store Q. A store Q is a coupon that can’t be used anywhere else except that store and doesn’t start with a 5 or 9. In other words if it doesn’t start with a 5 or 9 or can’t be read by another stores scanner it’s a store q.

I really get grumpy when stores write “MQ” on a store Q because I personally see it as an unfair and deceptive practice. (My opinion, I haven’t taken anyone to court or anything LOL). You advertise “we let you stack MQ & Store Qs” to be competitive with all the other stores, but then you label most of your store Qs as MQ to avoid having to take both. So, to me that’s deceptive.

Christie- I sometimes feel like I’m ready to take someone to court, LOL!!! I live in Illinois and we have no doubling coupons at any of our stores you would think they would at least let us use the ones we have and the ones they put out there. Some of these people that work at these stores act like it’s coming out of their pockets. One of our Walmart Managers is the worst, if the coupon doesn’t scan(do to fact that they are not scanning correctly) and they call her over she says ” that coupon is counterfeit thats why its not scanning”. She even took one of my coupons once and said it was a fraud. The funny thing is I used that same coupon at another Walmart and when scanned properly it worked fine. I’m at the point where I can only take one more of her embarrassing comments(these are frauds) and I think I will seek legal advice.Very insulting when I have never even coupied a coupon, I get them out of the paper and on these sights, I follow all the coupon rules and still take crap. I think it’s time for a coupon convention, consumer schooling corporate, LOL!!!!

Back in January I stumbled upon some Synsodyne on clearance. I used mfg coupons plus the $5. GSK coupon and the $2.50 off 2 Sensodyne from Reinventing Beauty. They were all accepted no beeping and no questions asked.

Karen H. February 10, 2012 at 8:23 am

Wow! You know, I think I might try at least the $5 off of $10 & the $2.50/2 CVS coupons together in one transaction + MQ’s & see what happens. If they beep & have a fit, it’s not like I’ll be losing that much (just the $2.50). I just know that I have tried to use 2 of the RIB coupons on a BOGO vitamin sale before & they beeped & wouldn’t let me use them together (but they were the exact same coupon). Thanks for the great information!

My 1/1/12 RP insert only has the $2.50/2 and $1/1 BIOTENE PRODUCTS, will these coupons work for sensodyne product deal?

Jiji February 11, 2012 at 12:49 am

I think we can do 2 transactions to get cheap deal on Sensodyne.
1st transaction :
Buy twin pack Pronamel $ 10.49 B1G1 50% = $15.79
use (1) $2.50/2 MQ + use $5 off wyb $10 in GSK products, pay $8.29
2nd transaction:
Buy twin pack Pronamel $ 10.49 B1G1 50% = $15.79
use (1) $2.50/2 MQ + use $5 off wyb $10 in GSK products, pay $8.29
Grand total pay $16.58 – get back $10 CVS gift card – just like you pay $ 6.58 for 8 tubes of toothpaste or .81 cents each.
Or break it in 3 transactions
Buy twin pack $10.49 x 3 transactions
use 3 $5 off wyb $10 in GSK products and 3 $1/MQ
Pay $13.47 – get back $10 CVS GC, just like paying $3.47 for 6 tubes or .58 cents each.
This way you don’t have to worry about the cashier giving you hard time. you can go to sensodyne website to print $1/MQ also.

Tried this today combining all the coupons. My usually very nice store said no way. Because the coupons said manufacturer at the top, they were MQ’s and could not be combined. I pointed out that they started with a 4 and so were CVS coupons. This did not work. She said she doesn’t know how I know all this stuff and that they’d have to call over the manager, which she did. Then, the manager said they just go by the wording on the coupons. If it says manufacturer at the top, that is what it is and they won’t combine them. I finally got them to let me use the $5 off $10 with the $2.50 of 2 from the newspaper. I think they did this because I am in there a lot. It beeped, on the second $5 off 10 Q, but she put it through. She said just this once.

I did this deal yesterday and did not have much trouble. I broke it into two transactions. The first one I bought 4 and used 1 $5 off of $10, 2 $2.50/2 man and 2 $2.50/2 RIB. It went fine until the final $2.50/2 RIB and that last one beeped and she was unable to manually enter it.

The cashier did not even question the number of coupons which I thought would be the issue. The second transaction I intended to do the same except I switched out one of the $2.50/1 man for a $1/1 man thinking that might go through. Which it did. But when I got home I realized I had forgotten to give them 1 of the $2.50/1 RIB which is why it went through. But of course I spent a few minutes kicking myself over my coupon mistake. But in the end I am thrilled with 8 tubes of Sensodyne for $2.50. I am even considering buying another RIB to do this again.

Are any of the cheaper Sensodyne varieties on sale? I see on the website some tubes that are only $1.69 and $1.79. Are those included in the BOGO 50% and/or the $2.50 manufacturers coupon, or just the ones that cost $5.99? Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer ๐Ÿ™‚

The cheapest I found at my store was $5.49 and $4.48. My CVS coupons also beeped after the first one. I had (2)- $5/$10 and (2)- $2.50 off. The store cashier was very nice and pushed them through. I combined that with my manufactures coupons and $5 off $30 that was emailed to my extracare account.
