I used the $2/2 cpn with the b1g1 cpn this weekend. Worked perfectly. Got an even better deal because I had a $3/$15 any shampoo/conditioner product CVS cpn and the b1g1 rang up $4.99 not the $3.50 sale price. I paid $1.30 oop on 8 bottles of Pantene, 3 puffs and 2 dawn, plus got the $5 ECB, didn’t realze the .06 off wouldn’t trigger the $10. When I go back I’m going to spend another .72 and get the $10 ECB. Great shopping trip especially since we were getting low on shampoo:)

I really admire anyone who can get great deals like you have done…..BUT I’m fairly “NEW” to couponing & need it broken down a little more to fully understand how you came to that super OOP amount??? I hope you can help me out on this, it’s just confusing when you’re not a seasoned couponer. I always have the fear of making an idiot out of myself at the checkout counter, which scares me to death. Thanks in advance & keep up your great work.

Carole….you really aren’t supposed to use additional coupons (even if they don’t beep) on the same products when you use a BOGO free coupon. The BOGO free coupon attaches to both items when you use it (you have to buy both in order to use the coupon). You are never allowed (according to manufacturers) to use more than one coupon per item and since the BOGO free coupon goes for both products you can’t use the $2.00/2 also. What happens is the manufacturer does not honor the extra coupons used and the store loses the money 🙁 Not judging or being critical as I figure you may be new and don’t realize. Many seasoned couponers still think it’s ok but it’s really not.

How is that not judging?? That’s not true….certain BOGO coupons have a value code of 14 on the barcode, Which means that the coupon attaches to both items. However, if the value code is not 14 then you may also use a coupon with the item that you are paying for. You should research before criticising other people.

In the past, there have been times I’ve been able to use a $2/2 with a BOGO and times when I couldn’t. I’ve never heard of the value code of 14. Can you explain what that means please? I want to get the best deals I can but, I also want to coupon legitimately. Thanks in advance.

Its not using 2 coupons on one item. The BOGO takes off 4 of your bottles if you get 8…then the $2/2 takes care of the other 4 bottles….so ONE coupon for each bottle. 🙂

John,
Thanks for the support. Ironically enough, Jane says that she is not judging but, then ASSUMES that I am new to couponing. I am far from new. I have been doing this for years. A while back it was actaully a manager that told me that if I had a particular cpn I should use it with the B1G1 to get a better deal.

Hillary,
Thanks!! That’s how it was explained to me.

It really upsets me when people judge others before they stop and really take a good look at themselves before the accuse others of not being ethical. No one has the right to judge others, if you do then you have something that you need to fix in yourself because that’s where the insecurity comes from.

Carole:
Could you please break the transaction you did earlier this week down for me please, this is a BRAND that I use and would really like to know the exact procedure IF you don’t mind.
I hope you can help me on this…..again, I admire your Couponing skills, & hope to be a lot better someday. Thanks in advance.

Jenni,
4 bottles of shampoo and 4 bottles of conditioner = $28.00
4 B1G1 cpn the bottles were $3.50 but the pn scanned at $4.99 and my store never over rides the amount the cpn scans. So…..
$28.00 – $19.96 = $8.04
$8.04 – 4 $2/2 cpn = .04
.04 – $3/$15 CVS cpn = -$2.96
I also bought 2 Dawn and 3 Puffs
.97 x2 + .99 x3 = $4.91
$4.91 – .75 in cpns (2 Dawn/1 Puffs)- $2.96 = $1.20+tax
I also got a $5 ECB, I plan on buying 1 more Dawn toget another $5 ECB, I didn’t realize that $29.96 wouldn’t trigger the $10 ECB.

Sorry it took me so long to answer back.

” THANK YOU SO MUCH” for your explanation….I’m off to my CVS now, keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll have a great deal too! If I make it out for less than $5.00 I’m still gonna plan on doing the HAPPY DANCE, one day I hope to have all of this down pat. Have a great week-end.

Jenni,
Please don’t plan on ever having the world of couponing down pat it changes all the time ….I have been doing it for years and still make silly/stupid mistakes all the time. People that judge and critize for some reason think that they “know it all”…if we lived in a perfect world it would be pretty darn boring!

The bonus for me on this deal was the B1G1 rang at $4.99 not $3.50 and having the CVS cpn. Good luck , let me know it went!!! I’d do the happy dance for $5/8 Pantene products too:)
