PayPal MasterCard MONEY MAKER! *HOT*

by Christie on November 25, 2013

PayPal Reloadable Prepaid MasterCardHere’s a HOT Money Making deal you can grab at CVS this week. Right now, CVS is offering $50 Extrabucks Rewards WYB 1 $150 PayPal MasterCard. This makes for a really nice deal because after you pay the $4.95 activation fee and get your $50 ECBs, you’ll make $45 on this deal!! This is a regular prepaid Debit MasterCard loaded with $150 on it that you can spend on gas, food, or whatever else you’d like. You can also link the card to your PayPal account. Learn more about this re-loadable PayPal MasterCard HERE.

Here’s how this works:

Take $150 that you normally have budgeted for gas, food, or whatever else, use it to buy the PayPal MasterCard, pay the activation fee and get $50 back in ExtraBucks Rewards, making this a $45 MONEY MAKER!

CVS Deal
Buy (1) PayPal Re-loadable Prepaid MasterCard, $150
Pay $4.95 Activation Fee
Spend your $150 on anything you’d like (gas, food, whatever)
Get $50 Extrabucks Rewards
= $45.05 MONEY MAKER!!

Please note: As long as there is a balance on the card, PayPal charges a monthly fee of $4.95. In order to avoid this extra fee, you’ll need to use the card right away once you purchase it. Once you use the card and there is no remaining balance, you can close to the card to ensure you don’t get charged that extra fee. Please make sure that you read the details on the instructions that come with the card and also check out the PayPal Prepaid site.

It’s better to be safe than sorry, so I would use the card immediately after purchasing and then close the card in order to avoid those additional charges – Very Important!

From what I have read, it seems this is a regional deal. Also, you will probably get charged $4.95 monthly fee unless you use entire balance immediately after activation.

You get charged the fee upfront, so the total is 154.95…if you keep this open for longer after a month or 90 of non-use (1 month if continuing to use) then the 4.95 is charged. You DO need to call in to cancel though…spoke with a rep. this morning and she confirmed that otherwise it’ll close with a negative balance.

This not a valid deal in all areas…..it’s only good in select stores. None of the stores in my area have this deal. Bought the card, loaded $150 and NO ECB. Manager stated it was not valid in our area 🙁 Just wanted to prevent someone from making the same mistake I did – check to make sure it’s working in your area before you buy LOL!!!

Oh, I also wanted to mention that it showed up in MyWeekly ad deals so I thought it was good in my area. You can’t go by that:)

Confirm with your local CVS store if they’re doing this promo prior to purchasing it. My sister was able to do it and earned her $50 EB! I was also told that you can transfer any remaining balance to your PayPal account prior to 30 days to avoid the next $4.95 fee! You really should purchase this card if you’re going to use it in that 30-day timeframe!

Works in Lexington SC! With all the free stuff this week it makes it easy to spend that 50.00 ECB and get almost you’re 50.00 ecbs back but in smaller increments.

I’ve been reading that the stores are pulling these cards. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, My CVS in California they pulled the little cards they had left, because they noticed that some people were stealing all the cards off the shelves and trying to sell them outside. So we lose out

Does PayPal charge fees per transaction when you go to use the card?

Reply

Jackie November 25, 2013 at 1:58 pm

I mean you should purchase this card only if you’re going to use the entire balance it in that timeframe. Oops!!!

For this deal, you will pay $154.95 at the register and within 24 hours of activation they will automatically deduct $4.95 as a maintenance fee. Have to use the funds within 3 months in order to avoid another fee and cancel card. I’ve read other people immediately withdrawing the funds after activation to avoid any fees.

In Central Florida area the cards were working but around 5 pm many managers pulled them because they suddenly started printing out error codes. Happened in two stores and heard that they couldn’t be activated. Just a warning. Kind of a bummer since they were working for the ECBs, just couldn’t be activated.

In my store in Los Angeles, they pulled the promotion, because they were informed that people were stealing all the cards and selling them on the outside, so we lose out because of the greediness of others.

Anyone know if you can pay with a credit card or does it have to be purchased with cash?

Reply

michelle November 26, 2013 at 5:28 pm

I used a credit card on the first one then the next day I purchased a second one and used the 1st paypal card to pay for it!

Vanessa November 26, 2013 at 7:16 pm

At my CVS – Missouri, I had to use cash to “load” the $150 to the card.

Is the limit more than one? I bought one but it doesn’t show limit reached.

Reply

Vanessa November 26, 2013 at 7:18 pm

I was able to buy 2 (2 different days). When I bought the first one, I checked out the receipt and it showed that I could another one. I was happy!

To make the deal even better, you can link it to your paypal account and get a pin number and take it to a bunch of places like 7/Eleven or Hucks and withdraw the money for a $1.95 fee. So you would lose $4.95 activation fee when you first purchase, and $1.95 ATM withdraw fee and get almost all your money back and rinse and repeat if you have multiple cards!!!

Greenfield, Indiana here (suburb of Indianapolis) and my local CVS pulled all the cards because they could not get them to activate, but I was told that the $50 ECB deal was valid.
